STOP THE EXECUTION OF RANDALL MAYS
The state of Texas plans to execute Randall Mays on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 for the 2007 murders of Sheriff Deputies Tony Ogburn and Paul Habelt.
Mr. Mays has a previous execution date in 2015 but was granted a stay based on an incompetency claim from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Later, a district judge issued an order that found Randall Mays competent for execution. Earlier this year the CCA agreed with that ruling.
The execution of Walter Barton would be especially egregious because our nation is experiencing a public health crisis due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and is already feeling so acutely the loss of human life.
We invite you to voice your opposition to this execution and demand that the state of Texas respect the dignity of human life by sending this prepared letter.
