STOP THE EXECUTION OF ROBERT SPARKS
The state of Texas plans to execute Robert Sparks on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 for the September 2007 stabbing deaths of his wife, Chare Agnew, and two stepsons, Harold Sublet, Jr., 9, and Raeqwon Agnew, 10.
Mr. Sparks reportedly told investigators he believed his wife was poisoning him. At his trial, psychologists testified he’s been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, paranoid delusions and anti-social disorder.
Robert Sparks still has appeals pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. In one claim, Mr. Sparks argues that state expert A.P. Merillat provided false testimony regarding his prison classification if a jury chose life without parole rather than a death sentence. Similar claims have been made against Merillat in several other capital cases, leading to at least two overturned death sentences.
We invite you to voice your opposition to this execution and demand that the state of Texas respect the dignity of human life by sending this prepared letter.
