We invite you to voice your opposition to this execution and demand that the state of Missouri respect the dignity of human life by sending this prepared letter. You may also call the governor at 573-751-3222 and urge him to halt the execution of Walter Barton.
"For these reasons the Court requires more time to consider the merits of the claims beyond the 15 days available in this case between the filing of the habeas petition on May 4th, 2020, and the scheduled execution on May 19th, 2020...if the district court cannot dismiss the petition on its merits before the scheduled execution, it is obligated to address the merits and must issue a stay to prevent the case from becoming moot.”

The state of Missouri plans to execute Walter Barton on May 19, 2020 for the 1991 murder of 81-year-old Gladys Kuehler.
The fact that a state would move forward with an execution when the nation is undergoing a public health crisis due to the outbreak of COVID-19 is especially egregious.
