STOP THE EXECUTION OF SCOTTY MORROW
The state of Georgia plans to execute Scotty Morrow on Thursday, May 2, 2019 for the 1994 murders of Barbara Young and Tonya Woods.
Morrow has concluded his direct appeal proceedings and his state and federal habeas corpus proceedings. Many of his appeals have continued to focus on the ineffectiveness of his trial lawyers.
After being convicted and sentenced to death in June 1999, Morrow’s death sentence was overturned by a lower court, after he successfully argued that his trial lawyers failed to present sufficient evidence of his alarming history of childhood abuse and trauma. Morrow's death sentence was later reinstated by the Georgia Supreme Court.
